Sheep Gestation Calculator & Chart
Ewes carry lambs for about 147 days (a touch under five months), with a typical range of 142–152 days. Early-maturing meat breeds often run a few days shorter; fine-wool breeds a few days longer. Ewes carrying twins or triplets usually lamb a little earlier than ewes with singles.
Typical management windows for planning — health decisions belong with your veterinarian.

Common questions
How long is a ewe pregnant?
About 147 days, with a normal range of 142–152. A useful rule of thumb: lambing comes just under five months after the ram went in.
When should I scan ewes for pregnancy?
Ultrasound scanning is most accurate between about 35 and 90 days after breeding — many producers scan around day 45–60 so they can also count lambs and split feeding groups.
Why does litter size matter for timing?
Ewes carrying multiples often lamb a few days early and need better late-gestation nutrition — about 70% of fetal growth happens in the last six weeks.
When do I give pre-lambing boosters?
A common window is about four weeks before the due date so lambs get protection through colostrum, but follow your veterinarian’s program for your flock.
