Common questions

How long is a goat pregnant?

About 150 days — right at five months. Most does kid between 145 and 155 days after breeding. Miniature breeds often run a few days shorter than standard breeds.

When will my doe kid if bred in November?

A doe bred November 20 is due around April 19 using the 150-day average. Enter your exact breeding date in the calculator above for the precise window.

How can I tell if my goat is pregnant?

Ultrasound from about 30 days after breeding is the most reliable early check. A doe that does not return to heat about 21 days after breeding is a practical early sign. Your vet can also run blood tests.

What should I do before kidding?

In the final month, follow your vet’s pre-kidding booster program, and set up a clean kidding pen about two weeks out. Watch for udder fill, loose tail ligaments, and discharge as labor approaches.
